there seems to be a little confusion about this contraption. so in the next 5 minutes, before mr. perfect hustles me off to work, let's see what i can do to clear it up. this is a container designed for holding a bale of hay. it's not a feeder. the main part of it's design is about containing the mess of a bale of hay once you take the binding twine off. side note: i called my hay bale place and my bales weigh about 70lbs not 50. so even a better deal! nuage never sits there, he's just being exploited for the blog and to give you a sense of scale. in other words, he never eats out of this box. he eats out of his litter box, it sounds gross to us, but they don't seem to mind. they sit and do their business in the back of the box, while eating out of the front of the box. uh oh, i've just been given the "it's time to go!" warning so i may not be able to do anymore explaining until later. hopefully these photos are explanation enough, but for you newbie bunny owners out there, i want to make this extremely important tutorial much more comprehensive....send any questions my way. more later, alligators!

lisa darling, i was just looking for an excuse to go on and on about hay. as you know, i don't need much encouragement. so i'll take your comment, add rabbit guy's comment, and all of a sudden i have all the excuses i need! now i know most all of you give your bunns plenty of hay, but there are some of you out there who think that as long as there are a few strands of hay in a bowl they must not want more, and are therefore fine. not so. i'm always alarmed by this, typical excuses being: it's too expensive, it's too messy, and the store is too far away. and as true as the expense is of store bought 'bagged hay', NOTHING is more expensive than vet bills. that's all the time i've got right now, please all you bunny experts out there, chime in now about the importance of unlimited hay.

i had a lot people tell me that their bunnies don't eat the apple branches that they buy. since my bunnies always ate the apple branches i gave them, i thought maybe it was the apple branches and not the bunnies. so MICHELLE MAY (we just love her!) of 'RASPBERRY RABBITS', was kind and curios enough to send us the apple branches that her bunnies rejected. turns out my bunnies rejected hers too, here's the taste test verdict.

Bunny boot camp has begun! perched on a city corner at the tip of the largest forested park in north america we're about to kick it into high gear! or our special version of high gear anyway. so to all of you who have been patient (and maybe even more importantly, not so patient) we thank you! now it's time to get caught up with all you beautiful people and bunnies once again, we're not on an island anymore, we have internet, an office, a job, and boy oh boy do we have lots of bunny photos to post....and close to 100lbs of organic apple branches to boot!!!! so hip hop hooray for bunny boot camp it's time to get busy.

i'm thinking about a way to take my procrastination and turn it into something else. the new year has come and gone. i missed the first day of the the year of the rabbit too! so now what? wait until next year?

i could, but i'm worse with patience than i am with procrastinating. solution: i'm thinking about making custom calendars. the start date can be your birthday, your bunny's birthday, easter etc. you just name the date and the year and i'll start it there.

hold on now partner, that's not the end of the customizing....you can even pick out photos from all of potentiallynervous's archives....whee!

you can send me your OWN photos and i'll retouch them for you, giving them that Pnervous 'look'. now for the biggest 'OR' of all! if you live in portland or seattle i'll come and do a custom photo shoot of you and your bunny! how tempting is all that? there's more....i can make these calendars black and white or an actual print that you can detach from the calendar page and hang on the wall, 5x7, 8x10, or 11x17. we're only limited by your imagination....how's that feel? expansive? i hope so!!! so just sit back and be creative, bark out the orders and i'll do all the work!

since mr. perfect drove each and every inch of this trip, i designated myself documentarian. a spectacular drive, i shot almost every single frame through the passenger side window since rolling down the windows involved perhaps a little too much noise for you know whose furry ears.

there really isn't a way to tell this tale without some sort of people shots. the bunnies tucked themselves under the bed to sleep, with bells constantly planting himself as close to his new love as he could possibly be. this practice has continued and now verges on obnoxious.

...the story of the road trip that is. it seems forever ago that we made our trek across this united states, but as luck would have it this saturday night is the night i'm going to try to show and tell it. here's the magic caravan that transported all of us safely out west. the bunnies dominated the car...they had the entire back of our SUV, complete with glass jars of their mountain spring well water that the we brought all the way from woodstock, tunnels that malcolm and nadine sent us from canada, along with a super deluxe pet carrier that bells and nuage turned into their fort to periscope in going 65 mph....oh ya and let's not forget their almighty shutters that were strapped to roof rack. two litter boxes and 80 year old miniature china bowls full of whatever little treats we could think of. they were so comfy that they ate, slept and played the entire drive, they truly never even seemed ot notice that we were doing something i was terrified of. all my stuff was loaded into the camper, that is what little stuff i could fit in there after taking as much of their fencing as i could. we set up that fencing every chance we got (rest areas, walmart parking lots, you name it) and drove in 2-3 hour spurts, never exceeding 6 hours a day. bless this sweet camper, a 1968 shasta!

i've started my grand love affair with kinko's!!! they have such snappy wifi here. it might be fair to assume that if one falls in love with a kinko's connection, sandwiched between cranking xerox machines, your internet is probably not so hot at home...one of the few trade offs for living in paradise.

nuage went to our beach the other day...these are my top 6. i'd love to know which one ya'll like the most. while you scramble to decide, i'll continue retouching. i'd like to try to tell some of the story of our road trip. stay tuned!

it's so hard to know where to start! for me, once i get out of the blogging loop it's even more difficult to jump back in. it's like i need to wait until i have the most perfect bunny photo ever in the history of the world or i don't deserve to be allowed to come back without some sort of dire consequences...oh, it's not that big of a deal? ok!

well then, here we are with a mediocre bunny photo!

a few years ago i would have never thought i'd be so crippled by bunny photos, the pressure i put on myself is perhaps a wee bit more than you might imagine. then let's toss a little cross country bunny relocating project on top of it! that's enough to shut me right down.

oh, you don't care...right! back to bunnies....

first and foremost, we have not left yet. we are leaving for sure before oct. 1. that's when my cabin will be taken over by it's new occupant. however we may be leaving sooner....i've been instructed to tell everyone who asks that i'm leaving in two weeks. just so that everything isn't left until the last minute. there has been a long list of things to take care of and things unexpected and things that have a propensity to create some stress and things that aren't as stressful as you'd maybe think but i'd prefer to just skip all of that and get right to the good stuff.

our first camper trailer fell through at the last minute, so we had to scramble to find another one. we did! it's the one here in this photo. a 1968 shasta!!! i'm in the process of getting it gussied up for the ride and all the upcoming documentation!

i've been taking the boys out for little practice rides in the car...it's going pretty well. bells will be the trickiest, but we'll be packing cisapride, my oral syringe collection and anything else i can think of to jump start a bunny. oh yes, and most importantly, ALL their Xpens so that they get tons of exercise along the way. we're planning on staying at state parks and bunny friendly campsites. mr. perfect, (let's just call him that from now on) has purchased an enormous heavy duty waterproof tent so that even if it's raining i can run them around inside the tent to keep them active and hopefully happy!

nuage had a bot fly incident recently too which was nothing serious, but still very scary! neither one of them has been let outside since, or not much, unless i can run around beside his wound with a fly swatter. but he's finally looking all healed up from his lancing and will be perhaps let out tomorrow when he might be having a very special visitor....lisee is driving up here at some point to meet them before we leave and we couldn't be more excited!!! we're thinking she may be coming tomorrow!

i know there's tons of other stuff to tell you but i also know all you really care about is more photos, so let me get this camper painted and cushions refabric'ed and finish up the rest of the maintenance checking and propane tank filling and water holding thingy cleaning then packed and then mail all my stuff out west and sell what i can and then give the rest to sal's army and then i'll be up and at 'em once again with my camera i promise!!!!! and now that the pressure is off since i'm going to settle into mediocre bunny photos i may even post a little more often.

fly, drive, fly, drive....the votes are in, and it's a landslide!!! driving the bunnies it is!! now these bunnies have been driven places before so i'm not going into this all innocently, bright eyed, bushy tailed and full of ignorant optimism. BUT as with everything bunny, hoping for the best. i know full well that bells could pull a little GI stasis out of his hat, stopping the whole thing wherever and for however long he damn well pleases....like the bunny version of russian roulette.

in fact we just picked out our camper trailer too. it's a sweet little number that pops up and down and folds in and out and will make a nice resting place for our growing family. yup! we have a new addition...and it's not a furry friend, in fact he's not furry at all! nor is he two inches off the ground either.

wait just a minute now...is this a bunny blog or a danielle steele novel? it's a bunny blog!!! so please squelch the romance talk....let's just say that we were dear friends and roommates 20 years ago and now after all this time he's found me again, thank you very much goo goo goo google!

there's a whole lot of lovey-dovey stuff im leaving out, but the skinny version is that he's coming back out here in a few weeks to get me and the bunnies and take us back to the west coast. sure there were talks of him moving here, but guess what? besides being absolutely fabulous, and ridiculously adorable, (he knows it too, not unlike a very tall bunny) but he's actually got a job to boot! supposedly there's more where that comes from, so with bunnies in tow, we're making the trek. ever since my first trip there, oregon has always been my favorite state and now i hear there's a whole bunch of glass studios! AND D moll!!! foon!!! tamara!!!! malcolm and nadine!!!! lynne!!!!! aren't too far away....can you guys even imagine when i get my hands on amelia or nibs?!?!?!

we'll be here until the end of september. so jade, lisee, lisa, shell....and ANYONE else who has wanted to meet the bunnies we're still right here!!! so get yourselves in gear and come visit! those of you out west or even in the middle i'm not sure how this is all going to work, but we may be driving right past your house! depending on how little bells does, he really does hate the car....we may be stopping for extended periods of time, hence the camper!
