ancient bunny (not so) secret.

you know how you think your bunny has his own 'cute' things he does and they are his personal trademark? well do you? for instance, i remember the first time i saw another bunny running circles on youtube.....you can imagine!

i just found out about a minute ago that head butting coffee cups isn't fats's own special thing. i sent this image to a friend explaining that he was sizing it up before planning on charging into it at mock speed. i now know i didn't need to explain a thing to her....this is what she said.

"of course I know the ancient bunny trick of head butting filled cups of anything; I actually believe there is a mathematical formula in their head for (fluid sensed)x (stain factor) x(amount of fluid) divided by (distance)x (acceleration/ friction ratio factor[2] ) =stained/wetted surface area.
It’s an art, a science, and a sport rolled into one."

thanks lynne !!! still giggling about this. it's always good to have scientist penpal.

Mickey isn't a headbutt-er, but he will throw or move any food dish he decides is toss-able. I have lost count of the times I hear him making a racket and investigate to find a food bowl upended and/or sitting on the opposite side of his cage--and he has some pretty heavy crockery in there.

The only dish he has never tried to move or throw (thank gawd) is his glass custard dish of papaya in pineapple juice, although he likes to toss his toys in it instead.

Hi Fats :) You're lookin' good and it sounds like you're feeling good. (Cats do the head butt thing too)

I've never put coffee cups in bunny proximity. Now I think I never will.

My boy cat is well versed in paw smacking mugs/glasses - after lapping up whatever beverage it was holding. I think he just likes seeing me come unglued.

Anya never headbutted coffee mugs, but then i never put the mugs near her....

She would throw things though, like Mickey

Hilarious!

Sounds reasonable, although my rabbit Frank doesn't head butt so much as back butt, but he goes through the same procedure ... there's nothing quite like bunny-flopping right up against your water bowl, apparently!

Mickey flops up against his papaya-in-pineapple-juice bowl all the time, resulting in a massive case of sticky-bunny-butt. I've tried to explain to him that the juice is supposed to go IN him, not ON him, but it doesn't change a thing.

How could I not have known that bunnies are more skilled at complex mathematics than most humans?
